Conepatas
- Zorillo
It was not until I offered a reward for a zorillos that I got any of this species. Natives would get out in the heavy grass pasture at the north west corner of the village and roam about until they saw a zorillo, then as near as I can figure out, they would rush up and crack it over the head trying to hit it hard enough to stun it but not break the skull. Thus they would bring it in alive and say they lassoed it!
No. 11031 was caught in a trap set in a run through a weedy banana grove north of the village. The trap was set in the path with sliced green bananas on either side. When I returned the next morning and found my shunk all the bait was gone. The stomach content of this specimen showed green banana pulp and insects. No. 11031 was killed by a mors in the dense jungle. In some of the stomachs I found corn and Nematode parasites were frequent.
