Puerto del Triunfo, Dept. Usulutan Dec., 28, 1925 - Jan., 25, 1924 Hairy-tailed Rat - Only one specimen of this species was taken at Puerto del Triunfo. It was caught in a large snap trap set on a horizontal limb in second growth under large trees in a dense piece of jungle near camp. The limb on which the trap was set was approximately two inches in diameter with its basal end connecting with adjoining brush by a long pole and with the tips of its branches touching brush on the other side, although this trap and many others set in similar places were kept baited with oatmeal and bananas for a week no more Hairy-tailed Rats were taken. Frequently some of the traps would have a Blue-tailed Rat. The Hairy-tailed Rat was caught with oatmeal. No. of specimen 11609,
