Puerto del Triunfo, Dept. Usulutan Dec., 28, 1925 - Jan., 5, 1926 nine-banded Armadillo - Cutuco. Armadillos were encountered frequently while hunting at night with a carbide hunting lamps. However their eyes did not shine. While walking along the caneta trail through the dense jungle and collol palms I often heard them working around through the dry dead leaves. One night I heard one coming toward me so I stood in the trail and waited. It came out of the brush slowly and came up within two feet of me before it got scent of me, when it turned and hurried back into the brush where I saw it no more. Another night in the dense jungle under the collol palms I heard three in one place not more than thirty feet from each other. No. 10968 was shot in the old plaza in Puerto del Triunfo. The plaza is now a grassy pasture where many horses and cows of the village feed.
