Puerto del Triunfo, Dept, Usulutan
Dec., 28, 1925 - Jan., 25, 1926
Sharp-tailed mouse-
Only four specimens of
the sharp-tailed mice were taken by me
at Puerto del Triunfo. Nos. 10950 and 10975
captured in vines leading down from the
top of a tree at the edge of heavy dense
jungle. The trap was set about four
feet from the ground. Under the
vines was a small jungle stream.
In these vines I caught a Pigmy opossum
and other Oryzomys. No. 10971 was trapped
on the ground
in a dense growth of lily like plants
not far from a swamp. This
place showed evidences of being very
muggy during the rainy season. No.
11010 was caught under a log in
catsclaw brush at the west end of
the heavy grass pasture northwest of
the village. The ants destroyed that skin
so I saved the skeleton only. Food habits
seem to be the same as with other
Oryzomys seeds and plant fibers.
