Puerto del Triunfo, Dept., Usulutan
Dec., 28, 1925 - Jan., 25, 1926
Potos
Kinkajou; Lion Cat - Gato micro; Gato leon
One specimen of this species
was taken by me at Puerto del
Triunfo. We were walking along
a carreta trail which led through
the [illegible] dense jungle when my
light flashed two red eyes on
a tree which spread nearly across
the trail. It took two shots with
the 410 shotgun and one with the
16ga. to bring her down. Her tail
was strongly prehensile and her
stomach contained fruit which
she was obviously getting in the
tree for I saw woolkeys (Atelus)
feeding there the following day. The
Natives reported that they were more
common in the region.
