Mt. Cacayuatique, Dept., San Miguel, Salvador Nov., 21, 1925 - Dec., 23, 1925 Giant insect eating bat - Mosiegalo It was just at dusk one evening when I first heard then saw this large bat. The squeaks were similar to those of other bats but stronger. As the bats came flying out of the banana groves they started this familiar sound and kept it up until dark. Those that I saw were diving and darting about high in the air, it was from this observation that I gave them their name. Others of our party saw these bats hanging under banana leaves in the shady canyons where the banana trees were thick, and in one place they related having seen two or seven in one bunch. I found one hanging under a banana leaf in a side canyon but my shot pistol failed to bring it down. The four specimens taken were shot by our assistant. The four stomachs were empty.
