Mt. Cacaguate, Dept., San Miguel, Salvador
Nov, 21, 1925 - Dec, 23, 1925
Sigmodon
This form was not found as commonly in the Mt. Cacaguate region as in other localities previously visited by me; this was due obviously to the small areas where grass was found. Nos. 10759 & 10760 were caught in the heavy [illegible] rough bladed grass patch which I described in Harvest mice notes. Specimen No. 10770 was caught in a wild pineapple fence on one side of which was a grassy corn patch and for the other coffee. Nos. 10798 and 10799 were also taken in the heavy rough bladed grass. And No. 10875 was taken in a stream under heavy grass. This stream was in a irregular region bordered on one side by a brushy weed patch and on the other by a old corn field being used for pasture land. Some starchy substances in stomachs looked very much like seed pulp, also green plant pulp and plant fibers were found in the stomachs.
