Summary of Cacaoatique Notes Nov, 21, 1925 - Dec, 23, 1925 Felis Ocelot - Lato tigrillo Ocelots in this locality were encounter by me only at night, however our moso helper returned to camp one day with a tale about seeing a tigve run down a slanting tree and escape in the bush. If he saw a spotted cat it was likely an ocelot. The first specimen taken No. 19686 was shot on the night of our arrival by our moso. He reported that he shot it in the coffee near a small mountain stream. The second [illegible] was shot by me. One night while following a trail through the coffee I thought I saw an eye flash some distance ahead and to my right in the coffee. On my left was a wild pineapple fence and a weed patch which bordered a small cornfield. As I drew nearer to the spot where the eyes flashed they turned again full into the beam of my light. For an instant they remained still then they came bounding down toward the trail like two small balls of greenish fire fastened together. When they landed in the middle of the trail I fired. The shot knocked him out at first but he soon recovered slightly and I much difficulty in killing him with a pole across his breast and a foot on either side of his body.
