2008 2009 Waltwd Koenig Melanerpes formicivorus RE17 LNHHR 18 June Caught one bird - a NOBA ♀ - in the hole down between my house and The Y. 25 June 2100. Missed one bird, but otherwise hit the jackpot tonight: 5 birds - 2 banded ♂♂ and 3 NOBA fledglings - in the new hole in the blue oak (now tagged #8616) up the canyon from the granary, almost as far as MSH11. Cavity is now tagged #8617; presumably this is probably where the (missed) nest was. Still stores here! 2009 24 May 1500. Bird in old Middle School Hill hole (hole 908 in tree 1503): 5 incubated eggs. I suspect this is RE17 but we'll have to watch to confirm! 4 June 1015. Still 5 eggs, cold. No one incubating; apparently abandoned. I collected one egg to see if we can get tissue from it + eventually see who this was. 17 June 800. 3♂ birds flycatching on The wires up towards Red House: (1) ♀ Ddm-red/m #4658, (2) ♂ la-whin/m #4249. (3) 10 July No stores here.
