2008 Waltid Kewney 2009 Melanerpes formicivorus Cabin HN+IR 7 July 1630. Banded the 2 kids here (hole #100; usual tree). Plenty of stores across the way. 2009 17 April 1230, Checked The Nest: 1 hatching + 2 eggs. Still hatching. 19 April 1815. All 3 kids hatched & looking good. Band 8 May. 17 May 1445. Returned the kid I brought to show at The flower show. One other kid was looking out when I came and flew out. He did fine, best I could tell. Fledging has begun! 3 June 1500. Checked hole #681 in tree H1651 (old hole): 2 eggs, fresh, along with a bird (!) who I left in there. I did mark the eggs, however. 9 June 1045. Eggs gone! Instead, there was a bunch of lichen and an adult Peromyscus, who I threw out. I don't think I caused them to abandon, not even having taken the bird out of The hole (she flew out on his/her own). But- it's possible, I guess. 18 June 1300. 3 eggs, fairly fresh, now in hole #100 (tree H1651-higher hole). EHD ~27 June. 25 June 2000 B orn #4194 roosted in the nest tonight
