2003 2004 2005 2007 Waltraud Koenig Melanerpes formicivorus 5 LARS HNHR 29 May 1020. Bird in 1st nest hole; probably 2nd nest. 3 June 615. Checked hole (also last year's hole): both empty. Hole over in granary has lots of acorn pieces in it; not usable as B but could be rehabilitated. 19 June 1115. None in any of the holes. 2004 4 May Bird in vicinity of nest tree. 25 Sept Bird in hole here, but when I checked it it was empty. 2005 13 Apr 1545. Bird in the old hole. 14 Apr 1130. Opened the hole (finally tagged #901): empty. 25 Apr 1500. Checked the hole (#901): 4 incubated eggs. ① 28.0 x 21.0 ② 26.2 x 20.9 ③ 26.9 x 20.9 ④ 27.1 x 20.9. EHD ~ 29 Apr 7; banded 20 May. 2 May 1615. Babies in the nest. 16 May 1345. Banded & bled the 4 kids here. 2007 10 May 1000. Plenty of stores here. Also a bird in a new hole a bit up toward Gazebo (small blue oak). Opened: 2 kids, ~12 do, + 1 developed but unhatched egg (24.4 x 19.2). 11 May Set ambush. Hole now tagged #697. 18 May Banded & bled the 2 kids.
