2005 2006 2007 Walton D Koenig Melanerpes formicivorus Hay-Bloom HNNR 6 April Plenty of stores here. 14 April Starling in the high traditional hole. 21 May Opened a hole I found last night where at least one bird really insisted on roosting - in a knot on the 1st big valley oak on Hastings, it was empty; I cleaned it out of some old bat droppings and miscellaneous junk, so it's certainly usable at this point. 1 Sept. Granary empty! Ran through then stores. 2006 24 March No stores (!) Or if there are any, very few. 19 June Put an artificial hole up here (#5806) - in one of the small oaks near the top above the old nest tree a bit over toward Low Hay. (tree tagged #6331). 2007 26 April Some stores still here - not a lot, however. 27 May Pretty well out of stores. 3 June 830. Found a nice new hole in the HNHR old nest tree (tagged #6324), but it's empty. Has remains of a partially-built EUST nest; cleared it out. If they end up resting up here, it should be here!
