2006 2007 2008 Walter D Koenig Melanerpes formicivorus 2 Dipsy (30 May) hole 1307 here, where she had laid another egg. 3 June 1400. Checked last year's hole (the old horizontal H-B hole): had several bunches of old lichen in the bottom, but otherwise OK. Cleared out. 19 June Noone in any holes; no stores left. 2007 26 April 900. Still stores. Noone in any holes, though. 7 May 1230. Bird in hole #1307: 5 eggs (1 a runt), pretty fresh ① 24.3 x 19.8 ② 25.2 x 20.3 ③ 24.5 x 20.3 ④ 25.3 x 19.6 ⑤ 19.0 x 15.6. 18 May 1000. 2 kids, ~2 to, + 3 unhatched & infertile eggs (inc. The runt) 6 June 1000. Banded the 2 kids. Still stores here. 2008 11 May 1030. Checked nest (low hole, tagged #1307): 3 babies, just hatched recently, + 1 unhatched but developed egg. All 4 could hatch. Band 1 June. 4 July 1215. No bird in hole (#1307) but I checked it anyway: 3 eggs, incubated! ① 23.9 x 18.8 ② 23.5 x 19.4 ③ 24.5 x 19.5 (this one not developing). EHD anytime; let's say 7 July. 9 July 1000. 2 babies, ~2 to, + Tabbed egg (#3). Band ~ 28 July.
