2003 2005 2006 2007 Walt D Koenig Melanerpes formicivorus Horsetail H.N.H.R. 26 May 1100: Banded and bled the 3 kids here. Stores remaining? Yes indeed. 2005 15 Apr There are stores here! Clearly a group here after all. 4 May 1030 Found the hole; it's in a dipshut limb way up there with nothing above it. Bannner. Will require some imagination to get up to it. I think they still have eggs. 17 May 1545. Bird flushed from hole: babies, youngsters, calling. I'd give them another 7-10 days, then try to get up there 24 May 1230. With 4 people, 400' of rope, and a lot of craziness we got the 40' ladder straight up, allowing me to reach the hole and the 3 kids. Unfortunately, one (4101) had a broken leg (not clear how; maybe it was us) so I kept him, returning the other 2. They were ~14 days old or so. 8 Sept No (old) stores remaining here. 2006 15 May No stores here. 2007 29 Apr Stores: Yes. 2005 hole has fallen. 3 May 850, $ M/LG? #3789 in granary. None in any holes 4 July Still some stores here.
