2005 Walt D Koewing Melanerpes famicavus Lower Long Field HNHR 28 May 1130. Finally checked the hole for hatching: 3 kids, 4-5 to, + 2 unhatched & undeveloped eggs. Band ~ 6/13. 12 June 900. Banded & bled the 3 kids. Stores? Yes. The 2 unhatched eggs are still there as well. 8 Sept. No stores left down here. 2006 4 May Still some stores here. 23 May 1330. Bird in the old hole (#1316). Climbed up to it: as I sort of expected, it's not in great shape. I'm not sure it's unusable, but I think it would be a marginal hole if it were used. In any case, it's empty and would still need some work. 2007 19 April 900. Bird in hole (#905). Checked it: empty but close to being ready. 29 April No one in a hole. Stores? Yes once. 3 May 845. No one in hole. 4 July 1145. Finally found the nest here - in the big Live Oak at The road (tree tag #8415). 3 kids, ~ 13 days old. 12 July 1130. Banded the 3 kids here. Still plenty of stores.
