2007 Wallbird Koenig 2008 2009 Buckeye HNHR 10 June 1130. Been fed & bled the 4 kids. Lots of acorns. 2008 26 May 900. Checked the old hole (#272): not in very good shape. They have been roosting there, but the nest must be elsewhere I'd afraid. Plenty of stores. 6 June 1100. Opened the new hole I found up here; it's in good shape but empty. Hole is in a blue oak down from the old nest tree, in the forest to the west. Bird was in the hole yesterday when I came up here. 12 June 1030. The new hole is still empty. Plenty of stores still here, by the way. 19 June 1000. Bird in the new hole. 22 June 1200. Bird in new hole again, but'. It's still empty! 30 June None in the (new) hole. Or any others, for that matter. 22 July 2100. Ambushed at the old nest hole (#272): empty; and the new hole, where I got 1 bird only - #2826. Sheesh. 2009 22 May 1000 Checked both holes (new one #272): empty. Stored acorns: Yes, definitely. 3 June 1230. 2 birds in the upper (old) hole. 11 June 1400. 5 eggs, 3-4 days inc., in hole #272.
