Melanerpes formicarius

11 December
700. An ambush over at the new hole in the
live oak snag got 2 ♀♀: 1 The Bonnie ♀ from
Bonnie & Clyde (not seen since June 2003) and a
NOBA ♀ who I'm fairly sure (but not positive)
was a FY bird. This suggests that the mother
(Bonnie) formed a coalition and dispersed with
her daughter (The NOBA); perhaps a first?
In any case, presumably these are the breeder
♀♀ here now.

27 April
1800. Having seen a bird in the old MLF hole (tag
#5814) I checked it today: 4 fresh eggs!
① 28.0 × 19.5 ② 26.9 × 19.8 ③ 27.4 × 19.3 ④ 27.3 × 18.7.
I'm guessing this may be 1800's nest since
MLF2 (I think!) is nesting over toward 1500 a
ways. But who knows? Both these clearly
need watching, and soon.
30 April
815. Hole still has 4 eggs.
1 May
Group is not 1800, it's [illegible]. MLF1
9 June
Still stores but no sign of a nest here.
Sept [illegible]
Plenty of (old) stores here.
2006
6 March
Stores: yes.
7 April
630. Ambushed the new hole just in from the old
hole in the main granary, which had a single
NOBA ♀, now #4212.
