Varied Some of the Gormez were black others brown. Some had a white nose patch clear around the eye while others the patch was very restricted. The rump and flank patch was as white as a Marsh Hawk in some and others had no white here at all. The Albatross when he lights seems to use the feet to aid in stopping. The feet are thrust down and toes spread, and would serve as the tail in other birds to check the speed. The Albatross alight a great deal but the Petrels never. [illegible] The Swell is much greater tonight as we round the Cook Islands. The air is also warmer. June 22 Mon. The weather is warm with less fog and the swell is again very small. The sea at times is very deep blue and then again greenish. During the last three days we have seen many flying fish. Some quite large in the neighborhood of 3 feet long, as noted last summer they fish do not flop after leaving the water altho the
