38 We landed at Smemote at noon and found our mules and [illegible] cart. After a time we ate lunch and got started. The Hacienda is about 4 miles out and on hilly ground - partly fields and part woods. There are two nice streams with dense strips of timber about them. We can see the sea from our window and we get a nice breeze. I believe we have ideal conditions for collecting. The place is full of birds. From the room we go and hear Bob white - Ani - Flycatcher - Sawbills - Tanagers - robins - Buntings Parakeets and countless unknowns. We are all set for hitting the ball hard and early tomorrow morning.
