Data Nests and Eggs 1. N. Great-tailed Grackle 5/13a Date July 3 Incb. fresh Identity: Description in notes to be made sure of later. Set. Mark 5/13a 1/3 local. Salina Cruz, Oay. Mej. Nest. In a mangrove? tree near a salt lough. Nest 8' up over the water. Only the one nest in the tree. Most of the nests were in a nearby colony in a tree surrounded by water. Nest 1" thick; cup 8" across and deep. Placed in a crotch of the tree. Made of sticks, cloth, paper and all manner of junk. Rootlets and grass used for lining. Both present, and considerably excited.
