were running along by the
Maria Islands Again. The
ocean here was very quiet
as before. The only birds
seen were a few shearwots
that I should call black-
vented. They were white
underneath and dark above
but more I could not tell.
Sept 9 Wed
Arrived in Mazatlan
which has quite improved
due to the rains. All the
hills about are now green.
I spent my time in town
looking up the Doctor who
saw Dad and says the
trouble is Malaria.
Mazatlan is really
much more civilized than
I first thought having
since seen other places.
The jackies are not so
much in evidence as afores.
I believe their breeding season
has passed as at Salina
Cruz.
About 8.30 we pulled
out for Ensenada where
we expect to be Sun am.
