Since Sturl had his traps
out at the Canal I went over
with him to get my own bird

The river was in such a
flood that we had to land
down at the mouth.
A great deal of cachuga was
being carried off down into
the lake. There were great
swirls and riffles in
the river all the way up
and she looked as bad
as the Merced in flood.
There was quite an
agregation of canourants and
fisherman at the mouth
of the river. There seemed
to be a great abundance of
fish with the water was
as thick as the Colorado
river.
