144 was seen buzzing about among the gum trees. Otherwise bird life was rather scarce in the bush. As we came up to the island, many birds swarmed off of the ground while they were apparently at a gathering festival. They flew with green lustre into the trees. When we rowed away at sunset we thought we saw a flock of Boat-bills. They looked brown and darker than squabs. And as we looked back the whole gum tree line was dotted with just white egret. They looked like some sort of white flowers on the gum trees and made a great background for the sunset sun San Miguel. Aug 19 Wed. The marsh country was again visited which brought in six new species. The Gre Ducks were more abundant, several flocks were flushed and three birds were shot. One female had a 1
