This evening I visited the other Little Island and found a snake had recently broken up the nest of Gray Heron I had made sure were there. There were two other pair on the Island with young. The birds were much finer solicitors than other herds I have seen with young. I found the Snibe two feet from the Herons nest breaking way with a set of Eris. I shot the snake but did not bother to pick it out of the cattail bush. There were many old gracilis nests on the Island but none in use.
