offering plumage which however was a breeding female. As I remained out on the water I saw only the things that passed by. One spool with but one egret, a small black jay, the size of a sparrow hawk and two reddish brown herons were seen as well as Wood Thrush and Carolina Wren. I scouted a nest of the fairly common Banana Quail Fern in a clump. A succulent plant but found difficulty getting at it and could not get it. Also saw several other herons with me, and flushing a Sign Betul from the thicket. The Butlun, which I also saw was a large gray offering heron nearly as large as a great blue heron. One Black-crowned Night Heron was seen but none of the boat billed as yet. Dad and I saw a skimm crazy large large Perrie of some sort but can't figure what it is. Returned about 4:00 and skinned a few of the feline.
