87 July 29 Wed In the morning I decided To at least row out to the Marshes with the folks. The Lake is well populated with many myspican Ornmenta, Rather tame and easy to get. There are many young birds with light breasts. Occasionally they flock together while following a f[illegible] coloff. Several snake-birds were seen in route and one Arigate Bird also. Many hundreds of Jacana were all thru the grass and various water plants. No nets could be found found but the birds were doing croken-wing stunts and making so great fuss. Late inspection showed very active males, females that had just laid- the males had bare patches on the breast. There were some flock of non-breeding bride? and some young of the previous year around. The birds are very noisy and do a great deal of fluttering and hovering around together. Once I saw a couple of females chasing after a single small mole.
