# This species is very variable. One variety
has two dorsal tubercles with a pit between
of the genus Ulrichia. In other forms these
two tubercles may curve below into a
simple horseshoe (= common type), or may
be prolonged dorsally in erect spines like
Aechmina. The horseshoe type also develops
in old forms a faint vertical lobe fore
and aft making a 4-lobed animal of
Bollia or Tetradella.
