The south end of the 80 foot knoll in N.W. corner of 1.55/1 - S.W. 1.45/7 is composed of an 8 foot ledge of gray shale striking N. 33° W., dip 10° N.E., splintering N. 52° E. The line of strike abuts against the intrusive massive trap which forms the hill. The south edge of this trap runs S. 70° E into the amygdaloidal flow forming the high ridge. The fossils in the shale = 1.55/1. B. Orbiculoidea small rare sp. large occasional Chonetes bastini occasional Stenoscisma pulchra common Retzia barranderi occasional Cleidophorus ovatus rare C " sp.
