olite to the south of the trap is a bright pink. Near outcrop 4, the Perry is again associated with dark gray shales, a great thickness of which (over 200 feet) outcrop 100-200 yards S.60degrees west from the house of Mr.X--(house in S.W.9:1:1) These shales are cut by a thick mass of trap, the ledge trending N.50 degrees west which probably represents the direction of the dike altho S.80 degrees west, some 450 feet, is another good trap outcrop. The shales strike N.50 degrees E.( N.40-57 E) and dip at a high angle ,- about 60 degrees- to the northwest. The shales appear to the west of the trap and again to the north, outcropping within 115 yards S.60 degrees W. from the house. The knoll in s.w. 8:5:3,-Outcrop 5- is composed of red shale. An outcrop on the southwest side of the hill over 200 yards from the road (about 70 ft.above tide on S.W. edge of 8.5.3. shows both red Perry shale and gray Silurian shale abutting against each other in a vertical (?) fault which trends N.15 degrees E. and which appears to mark the west limit of the Perry.
