8:21:1:(A)
Along the south part of 8:21:1, the porphyritic tuffs strike N.8. along a distance of 100 yards, altho small modifi-
cations of a rod or so may produce localized modifications of
strike. The dip is 28 degrees east.
On the south side of
the southern point in 8:21:1 occur some fossiliferous shales
intercalated in the tuffs. The diagrammatic section above,
normal to the strike, shows the tuffs followed by a covered
area 66 feet broad, th n crop out for a width of 12 feet some
layers of fossiliferous blue shales and thicker-bedded, calcaro-
shaly or indurated layers. These are followed by a nearly
cropped slice, 20 feet broad (for a couple of feet in this space
crop out some very soft, thin, blue-grey shales which cleave
vertically. They are full of poorly preserved fossils,-not
collected- of the same fauna as 8:21:1.A. After this covered
space follows a width of 22 feet containing light marine grey
hard, non-fossiliferous shales. These underly more porphyritic

tuffs. These beds strike N.20-22 degrees E., and dip 27-28
degrees east. This gives a total of some sixty feet of shales
between the tuffs.
The fossils occur in several seams.
