12 1.43.8. the amygdaloidal trap occurring in the road near east edge of 1.43.2 may be followed S. E. and at a distance of 150 ft. S.20 deg. from the road, begins an escarp- ment of this trap which extends to the house of Mr. Tom Smith a mile or so S.E. Opposite the beginning of this escarpment also about 100 yards to the west there is a light purplish, argillaceous [illegible] mud resembling clay- slate at first sight, and under- lain by similar colored and green gray loose tufts interbedded. strike 56.18 deg. in course of 100 yds. 46.18 deg. The green gray tufts frequently show copper glauze lining the cavities from which the fragments of the tuft have been dissolved away. Mineralized specimens = 1.43.8 (1) The overlying light purplish = 1.43.8 (2) tufts around Fossils in the green tufts are rare and.
