Melanerpes formicivorus
Lambert
(30 April) on 22 October 1980, but presumably (?) around until
the time of the Revolution to replace her on
13 April. But, to be a little more realistic, I'll give
her a 2 month leeway: Disappeared about 13 March
± 1 month.
♂ 581. Last seen 1 December 1980, gone by
13 April → Disappeared about 7 Feb. ± 2 months
Add: ♀ unband. Presumably moved here during the
Revolution on ~13 April.
In fact, this group continues to present one of
the biggest problems in the whole study area. Stay
tuned for more speculation as time goes on...

630. Watching. Something up here: 5 birds in the '80 nest
tree when I came up!
640. A fairly good revolution! Looks like it primarily involves
88 this time; there are numerous ub 88 have plus at
least 2 banded ones; also ≥ 1 ub ♀ - presumably the new
resident. About 10 birds altogether, I'd say.
700. Looks good for 008 BP/M #583. He seems fairly well in
charge, along with at least 1 other (banded?) ♀. An
unbanded ♀ seems to have that position with no problem.
Things are much quieter already (as the fog rolls in).
730. I'm pretty sure that 008 CB-BLK/M #582 is here also, but
he's definitely maintaining a low profile compared to 8583.
There are only a couple of intruders left now.
740. Even though it's the ♀(s) who are doing the chasing, it's
the ♀ who still sits around drumming and Carrickin'!
