Melanerpes formicivorus
School Hill West
Hastings Reservation
8 March
1540. Watching. Upon arrival I flushed 1♀ - 0/r/m #531.
1615. There are a fair number of acorns still stored here; almost
all were Black Oaks.
1620. Flushed 2 birds down the side of the hill toward
Pipeline. One was a ♂, the other was ♀#531. So far now it's
clear that there's still a pair here, at least, but whether
or not the ♂ baby is still here is up for grabs.
30 May
1400. Came up with Ron and Arie to band the 1 and only
baby here as #674:

wing chord: 48mm
This group does have stores remaining.

j593. Last seen 25 June, gone by 1 Dec → Dis.
about 12 Sept. ± 2 months.
j594. Last seen when banded on 29 May; gone by
1 Dec → Dis. about 1 Sept ± 3 months.
15 August
1100. No stores left here. Also, the nest hole limb has fallen,
along with just about the remainder of that Black Oak.
No birds remains at the hole, however.
