After a couple minutes' hesitation 9269 enters hole (with abdomen palpitating - does this mean an egg?). 8294 was nearby watching her. She did not stay in long, and flew out at 824. 827. 9383 enters hole. Looks out at 830, 835. Leaves at 843. If 9269 did lay an egg, this was 9383's chance to chuck it and she didn't. 900. Checked hole: it's empty; so 9269 has not laid an egg in it. 910. Will remain watching for a while longer. 1000. Quitting. As it turns out - 9269 laid in the other hole (where Ron was watching) and her egg was tossed out by 9383! See Ron's notes for details on this as well as the eating of the eggs! Quite a morning out here!! (at the hole in the Black Oak above the granary) 19 April 605. Watching once again! (it's also raining again!) 648. 9383 entered, left right away with some wood chips (was not in long enough to lay an egg). 650. 9383 enters again. Looks out, 709; 717-720. 733. Leaves. 750. Checked hole: 9383 did lay an egg, 25.1 x 20.7 mm, which I marked with a (D) and several X's. 818. A Plain Titmouse entered the hole for 30s or so. ~830. Ron yells over that 9269 has probably laid in the other hole again 909. 9383 enters hole. Looks out at 916; 921-925; at 928
