Hastings Reservation
(30 June)
9444. This bird, after having returned from her
attempt to move to R1 last spring, only hung around
for July 1979 and apparently had left again by the
ambush on 25 August. She did show up briefly on
9 Nov., however, so she clearly moved somewhere →
Left group about 6 Aug. 1979 ± 2 wks.

#618.
23 July
1600. Went up to the hole to check to see if j618 made it out
alright. And- apparently he did, since Ron couldn't see any
remains in the nest.
29 July
This morning Ron found an injured j617, possibly hit by
a car. He was alive and kicking but off balance and
unable to fly, so we took him to the lab to care for him
there.
1 August
j617 now still alive but in bad shape- his head is all puffed
up and he can't really stand up in the box. Looks bad.
2 August
j617 dead by this morning.
