Melanerpes formicivorus
1800 Hastings Reservation
(2 July) between 27 March and 12 April, by which time
she was chasing after old #260 possibly as though
she belonged here. She then apparently left directly
after the return of #193 and the demise of her nest
on about 31 May → Moved here ~4 April, left group
about 31 May.
#193. Definitely not here until the proceedings
on 30 May → Returned here ~1 June.
#347. A continual problem. He's obviously spent
a fair amount of time during the last year elsewhere
(with #193?), but shows up here now and again.
Still with no better information, I leave him here for now.
Further note on #ub above: Ron Munne obtained
a good watch on #ub and #3476 on 11 May, at
which time they were hanging out together almost
continuously. Nancy also saw an #6♀ here on
19 May. Thus she would definitely appear to have
been the breeding ♀ here as well as the resident
♀ up until #193's odd, unorthodox return ~1 June.
15 September 900. None in any holes here and none seen in passing.
9 October 1100. Watching. ♂ in spring hole when I arrived. Many stores here.
①♀DB-LP/DB #193 here preening in Main tree.
1115. ♂♂Marble/LG#476 atop tree now.
1130. The 2 birds sitting together here; no sign of anyone else,
1145. Leaving for now. ! 3 birds flushed from the tree when I
left; thus #347 is almost surely still here after all.
9 November 1215. Watching. See 1500 notes re the old nest tree granary
