Koenig Melanerpes formicivorus Hastings Reservation 16 May There have been regular indications of 6 birds persisting here since the action last week, at least up until the last few days. I've noted nothing here during the last 2 days. 1400. Now watching; no birds evident. 1440. Still nothing. Looks as though these birds may have decided to move on. I'll keep an eye out, but there may not be a group here anymore. 930. Park reports that 3 birds (possibly 1 separate) were hanging around here this morning (particularly up the dump road slightly). So there may be hope after all. 1600. 1-2 birds down at the Pump; I flew up toward the knoll and may have been from this "group." 18 May 1015. ①♂ub and I believe a 2nd bird hawkings from the locusts in front of the barn. Also, 2 birds were up on the knoll a few minutes ago. 19 May 715. Two birds here in front of the lower barn: ①♂ub. and ②♀Yel-Blk/M#397. Looks good for this group after all! 720. Birds are still peering into the hole up on the knoll in the '75 nest tree. Ron watched roosting tonight and reports that the birds (2) are roosting in the large Valley Oak up the canyon just passed the '77 nest hole. 2 June 645. 1 bird sitting atop the squamores at the Y. 7 June 1740. None here in passing, nor have I noted anyone here in the last several days. 21 June Pam reports seeing a banded bird (M on left leg) on
