1979 Walter D. Koenig Milanerpes fomicivorus Buckeye Hastings Reservation (7 July) from Chongo in September following fledging in 1977 and hadn't been seen since. So much for no juvenile dispersal!] 2 August 1900. Checked the hole here but with ambiguous results: There were no remains inside which were clearly attributable to a decayed carcass. However, there were a few feathers, dermested pupae, and lots of lice—enough to make me suspect that one may have come and gone already. In any case, there was not enough evidence for me to scratch the 2nd baby here for certain. 10 October 850. Watching from the hide at the granary. 851. 0^DB or DB-or #424 appeared right away, briefly. The birds do have a lot of stores here already. 950. Nothing else. Going to check the nest area and will leave the hide here for a later try. 13 October 900. Watching. No sign of anything over at the nest. 905. 00^DB/LP-181#252 came with an acorn by himself. 1000. Leaving. Clearly very little is going on here at the moment. 6 November 945. Watching. The granary here is pretty well filled with stores. 1100. Nothing at granary. Over beyond the nest tree I came across ①3 wnt-red/M #504.
