Melanerpes fomincivorus
Upper Arnold 2
Hastings Reservation
6 February
No birds here, but I suspect that the A3 birds may be
using this area, at least for sapsucking.
14 April
A3 birds sapsuck between A3 and LA2, also possibly fly
through here, but there is no sign of an autonomous
group living here.
21 April
1840. At least 10 roosting in the old nest hole here - presumably
A3 birds but the situation deserves investigation.
22 April
1130. None in any of the holes.
29 April

Still presumably A3 birds as far as I know.
14 May
830. Nobody here in passing.
930. At least 2 birds in the area. (Note also Ron's report of
"revolution" activity occurring in this general vicinity
on 10 May). Both birds flushed towards LA2. None in
the holes here, however.
2 June
1715. None seen here in passing.
7 June
1100. " " " "
11 June
1545. Bird in one of the holes of the Blue Oak by A3.
29 July

territory may perhaps provide a refuge for the 2 A3
fugitives.
2 August
Two birds were over here when I walked by and flushed
down into South Ravine toward A3. - Possibly the A3 birds.
26 August
900. Up here with Ron and Nancy after Ron reported
Revolution activity here, apparently between the 2
