Melanerpes famicivorus
Arnold 3
Hastings Reservation
(25 April) didn't actually chase him).
In any case, no one in any holes here (or at UA2).
*
838. More chases: [126] ? (left leg seen well) and
[383?] >[9397?]
Both of these are intruders.
840. 9207 doing a lot of the chasing. She and
♂LP-wrn/Bile-LA #120 in '77 nest tree now; intruders temporarily
routed.
could also have been 9397 from
Westgate
I bet the ♀ intruder above is 9383, from R3 (or formerly
of R3). The ♂ would appear to be old ♂126, formerly
of this group but not seen for quite some time.
*
850. 2 ♂♂ over on knoll by Lambert's: ♂WU/DB-WT #126
and ♂DB/WN #[illegible]#123. Sitting a few feet from each other.
858. [illegible]♂126 sitting off on his own; being tolerated by
♂123 at least but not, perhaps, a full-fledged group member.
900. Leaving. No more chasing here for the moment; ♂126 still
here, however!
28 April
1115. While on my way up to here from LA2, 2 birds flew
from the direction of the '76 nest hole toward me; one
went all the way to LA2, the other landed by UA2 and
was ♂Mwrn #128 #126 again.
*
1125. Over at A3 itself are 20♂wun/#120, 2nd♂, and 2
unbanded ♀♀ (one Cannicking, Drumming). [Ron has also
seen 9207 here earlier].
1130 Over in sap tree: ♂120, ♂126. Don't see the ub ♀♀
now, but still some Cannicks. No sign of either 2nd yr ♀♀.
1140. 9207 and ♂120 still "tight" up in the sap tree. Is she
going to stay and muck things up or leave like she should?
