(22 May) be quite sure that 8184 (who was the only bird to come
by the hole) spent the night in the nest. With these
last 2 watches I guess I now have to question
the first 2 when I was fairly certain, but not
positive, that 868 spent the night in the nest.
Until further proof I must now assume that
8184 and he only is the one.
23 May
1100. On the advice of Larry, who says for sure they've hatched
here, I opened the nest and indeed found 2 small babies
and 1 unhatched but opaque egg.
Watched the nest here from 1500-1745. See back for compilation.
26 May
1000. Checked the nest briefly, finding both babies fine and the
egg gone.
29 May
See Larry's notes concerning 9444 and
9446, both of whom were seen here today.
At dusk, 8184 definitely roosted in the nest.
30 May
Again tonight 8184 definitely roosted in the nest. Also
at dusk here there was incredible commotion due to
no less than 4 and possibly 5 or 6 birds. I have no
idea if all of them roosted here or not, but it would
seem as though the wayward daughters are still
prone to returning home on occasion. Note that Larry
saw 9383 here today (?) as well as the other FP.
1 June
8184 definitely roosted here once again tonight.
2 June
And again 8184 roosted in the nest; this time coming in for a late
feeding visit and then remaining, looking out of the hole until 1955!
