1979 Walter D. Koenig Melanerpes formicivorus Finch Hastings Reservation (25 April) from the top of the VO granary. Nobody appears to be chasing her; she appears to be quite friendly with the 38° 1622. Nothing for the last 10 minutes. Leaving; clearly the confusion resulting (apparently) from the shortage of 99 here and 293's insistence to be 2 places at once continues for the time being. 26 April Purge: 8ub and 8278. Last seen 19 Jan., gone by 15 April, → Disappeared about 28 Feb. ± 1 month. 27 April 830. Watching. 840. Some chasing and activity going on up the hillside. 845. Garricks. ①♂ M / Red Tan #282. ④ also 855. 8282 up in VO above creek along with ②♀/Red-#293 once again. Clearly there's still some discussion going on about what's up here, however. 900. 8282 and ③♂ G-B/G-B #63 here along with 293, who greets them avidly wherever they go. What, I wonder, has become of 8866 and 67, here 2 short weeks ago? They may be here, but if so they are certainly not very interested in the proceedings. 930. Leaving. No intruders seen, but 293 is still quite nervy. I do think she's definitely here to stay, though. She may still be slightly on the brink, but she's here constantly ④ and I think it's clear she's made her choice. Still a lot of activity here. 4 May. 1215. Several birds here along with some activity. 11 May 1600. None in any holes here. 16 May 800. " " " " 815. Several birds in the area slightly towards RL: ①♀/Purple#293,
