Meanwhile, 2 birds were over in the sap tree next door. 13 March Purge: 8394. Last seen 6 August 1978 (for the first time in a long time), gone by 26 October → Dis. abt. 16 Sept. ± 1 month 8395. Last seen 24 November 1978, gone by 2 December → Dis. abt. 28 November 1978. 2 April 930. Over on the fence posts across from Maggie's cure 8 8 8 #58, a 2nd 8, and a 8. 945. 858 now sap sucking in the tree by Westgate. 1005. 858 still here, but no one else. Leaving. 12 April Purge: 8238 and 8465, last seen 2 December 1978, gone by 25 Feb. for sure → Dis. about 13 Jan. 1979 ± 1 month. 14 April 1800. Pub hawking from Wiate Sycamore. 20 April 1845. 1 bird was in a hole in the Wiate sycamore when I arrived, but he flushed and disappeared, after which I saw nor heard anyone else roost anywhere at dusk. Where are these birds going? I especially checked the Wiate tree and found no evidence of anyone roosting there except for the initial presence of the one bird. 21 April 1030-1100. Several birds at School Hill West quite probably this group. See SHWest notes. 1800. Pub sitting in Gate sycamore. 25 April 750. 8ub preening atop Wiate sycamore. Some wakeas, but I didn't see anyone else in passing. 26 April Purge: 8466. Last seen 21 Jan., gone by 25 February, → Disappeared about 7 Feb. ± 2 weeks
