1979 Walter D. Koenig Melanerpes formicivorus Blomone Hastings Reservation (22 September) 1020. Over at Blomone itself, a ♂ was in the spring nesthole and wouldn't come out until I heaved a stick up at him. I did not hear anything inside, but it would no doubt be worth keeping an eye out over here. 24 September 1640. No one in the hole this time around. 11 October 1310. Flushed 3 birds from the area, but none in any holes. Also no sounds from inside, and there are lots of stores here already. 12 October 1115. Watched here for 20 min seeing/hearing several birds (none identified), but noting no sign of a nest.
