poise, 47 were in three schools which were suspected of being a
type of spinner porpoise. None were well seen, and all avoided
the ship when chased.
The increased number of marine mammals in the grid may possibly
be due to the attraction of more feed fish as discussed earlier
in the report, or might be due to a seasonal migration. Little is
known about migration in most of the marine mammals, so no state-
ment can be made. No doubt the exodus of the Fur Seals is due to
a migration but other changes must remain unexplained.
