2003 2004 Walter D Koenig Melanerpes famicivorus Blompond HNHR (1 May) 1730. Saw lots of birds: 92967, 92968, 82704, 83703, and 83705 all for sure, and 83706. No sign of the NOBA 8', however. I'll have to try next week. 8 May 1130. At long last, we got The NOBA 8', who really was a NOBA 8'. Who is he? Heck if I know. In any case, we banded him, added a band to 82704, and banded the 4 kids. Lots of stores left here, by the way. 4 June 1700. Checked the hole (bird in it, actually fairly regularly for several days now): 2 fresh eggs, marked. 9 June 1015. Hole empty! Oh well. Maybe it's not that great a year after all. 17 June 1600. Finally broke down and checked the hole after seeing birds in here regularly once again but! It's empty. 9 Dec. See Plague notes and back regarding (old) acorns taken from the granary here. 2004 3 May 1330. Still stores, presumably from fall 2002. 9 May Cleared out a Starling nest from the traditional hole - tagged 280. Had babies. 24 May Still stores. But where are the birds? 13 June Cleaned out another starling nest from hole #280, with old nestlings. 27 June Still a fair number of stores here.
