2003 2004 Walt D Koer Melanerpes formicivorus Cavity HNNR 11 May 1400. Finally: 9 eggs, fresh (hole #5553). 298 for sure. Should hatch ~ 21 May. 13 May 1445. Checked hole with peeper: 3+11 9 eggs. 27 May 1000. 5 kids, ~7 do, + 1 unhatched (but developed) eggs. Band ~ 10 June. 6 June 1000. Banded and biled the 5 kids. Stores! Yes. 9 Dec. See Plague notes regarding acorns collected from the grandany; again, all were, I believe, from fall 2002, not last fall. See back for summary. 2004 21 April Stores pretty much gone here. Also - old door fill out - needs to be fixed! 11 May 1300. 8 incubated eggs in a new hole about 1' down from #298. Hole tagged (today) #5974 Measured 3 of the eggs (all of which were normal): ① 23.6 x 19.9 ② 23.8 x 18.2 ③ 24.0 x 19.1 New hole tagged #5974. Bring a screwdriver! 18 May 1100. 5 babies, ~3 do, + 1 unhatched egg. Band ~ 5 June. 4 June 1230. Banded the 4 kids here, starting with bird #4000!
