2003 GbolterD Koening Melanerpes formicivorus Plague Anney HNHR 25Apr7 1140. Birds in (new) hole is the old Plague next tree. 1300. Opened hole: 2 fresh eggs. Numbered and measured: ① 29.0 × 20.4 ② 30.3 × 22.0 (!) Huge! 30Apr7 1345. Nest empty! Doch schade. Michelle/Lindsay watched here last weekend and saw nothing; apparently it had failed by then. 6May 1515. The limb with the earlier failed nest has fallen! Right at the hole, although I doubt my cut had much to do with it. Guess they wouldn't have made it there anyway! 16May 1300. In last year's hole (#5561): 2 kids, ~2 so, +1 unhatched and undeveloped egg (30.3 × 20.6 mm!). Band ~4 June. 2June 1700. Banded + bled the 2 kids.
