Melanerpes formicarius
Plaque Anny
HNDR
19 July
1500. 2 fledglings (at least one unbanded) in the
nice new hole I discovered up here a month
ago or so. It occurs to me: are these the Cabin
birds?? Time to ambush.
20 July
0500. Ambushed, nabbing 5 birds: a 9NOBA,
83018 (a 1998 ARB bird!), 2 recent
fledglings, plus one bird who I'm fairly
confident (but not absolutely positive) is an
older juvenile from an earlier spring nest;
best I could tell she was just beginning her
crown molt to a ♀.
So: Plaque Anny did exist (and still does),
and apparently had 2 successful nests, one
fledgling recently. I think, but can't be positive,
I got everyone here, at least.
