2003 2004 Walt & Koenig Melanerpes formicivorus Lambert HNNR (18 June) side of The fence (could be a different group altogether, but I'm guessing These guys). 2 eggs, well incubated. Hole tagged 5815. 25 June 945. Checked the nest, which is Lambert. 1 kid, ~3 do, + 1 unhatched but developed egg. Band ~ 13 July. 30 June 1200. Cut in hole a bit messed up; fixed it. Kid sounds fine. 9 July 1400. Banded the 1 kid. By the way, he's the only kid I've ever banded whose 2nd and 1st primaries are not at all reduced! Stored acorns: Yes. 2004 20 April 7 1115. No stores here; doesn't look like this is going to be a hopping place this spring. 6 May Starling nest in last year's nest hole (no tag); cleaned out. No one anywhere else. #5815 This is in the successful nest hole, down on Bradley's across from the pond. 13 May Starling building a nest in the other nesthole (tag #1315). Cleared out.
